Article body
PFC Neftchi strode past Icelandic title-holders FH Hafnarfjördur and into the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round despite having to play the last 49 minutes reduced to ten men.
Mammadov strikes again
Olexandr Chertoganov was dismissed for the Azerbaijani visitors four minutes before half-time, as they sought to make the most of their 2-0 first-leg victory in Baku. And despite their numerical disadvantage, they grabbed a vital away goal six minutes into the second period through Agil Mammadov, who also opened the scoring last week.
Nabiyev clincher
Hafnarfjördur gave themselves hope on the hour when Allan Borgvardt reduced the arrears. But with 16 minutes remaining Mammadov's fellow Azerbaijani international Nadir Nabiyev extended Neftchi's aggregate advantage and left the home team no way back.
Anderlecht encounter
Neftchi's campaign continues next week with a trip to Belgium to play RSC Anderlecht, with the return leg one week later.
