Buy-out clause
The 23-year-old has penned a five-year deal with the Gelsenkirchen club after informing Stuttgart president Erwin Staudt that he intended to make use of the buy-out clause in his contract. The fee has not been disclosed but is thought to be in the region of €7m.
Prolific goalscorer
Kuranyi made 99 league appearances for Stuttgart following his debut in 1997, scoring 40 goals. He collected 24 international caps during that time, scoring at a rate of a goal every two games and is included in Jürgen Klinsmann's squad for the forthcoming FIFA Confederations Cup.
