FC Bayern München will be without influential midfielder Toni Kroos for six to eight weeks after the 23-year-old picked up a groin injury in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg against Juventus.
The German international suffered damage to his right adductor muscles 16 minutes into the 2-0 home win, being replaced by Arjen Robben. Club doctor Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt diagnosed the problem, confirming that Kroos will miss the 10 April second leg – and potentially the semi-final should Bayern progress, with the last-four first legs played on 23/24 April and the return matches on 30 April/1 May.
"It is a bitter blow," said coach Jupp Heyckes. "Several competitions will be decided in the next two months, and it will surely be a long time until Kroos can play again. It is especially bad news for such a young player who has played great football this season."
