Roving Ramsey loving the high life at Arsenal

Arsenal FC's top scorer in all competitions this season, Aaron Ramsey is "enjoying" being part of a side setting the pace in both the Premier League and Group F of Europe's premier club competition.

While Mesut Özil has adapted seamlessly to life in England following his club-record transfer from Real Madrid CF and Olivier Giroud continues to lead the line with authority – netting both goals in the 2-0 weekend win against Southampton FC – it is the Wales midfielder who has arguably been the north London team's man of the season.

The 22-year-old has struck 11 goals for Arsenal this term, not to mention two for his country, having previously managed five in 91 Gunners appearances in the past two campaigns. Heading into Tuesday's UEFA Champions League visit of Olympique de Marseille, the former Cardiff City AFC player said: "I'm just enjoying myself at the moment, I'm feeling really confident.

"The team is confident too and that always helps. I'm feeling really good out there and I'm just enjoying myself – I don't take that much interest in the statistics. As long as we're doing a good job and the team is playing well than I'm happy with that."

His most recent strike settled the matchday four encounter with Borussia Dortmund in Germany, Ramsey having previously registered in the opening-night win at Marseille and three times over two legs against play-off opponents Fenerbahçe SK. Should Arsène Wenger's men complete the double over point-less OM, then a place in the knockout stage will be theirs for the 14th successive season – provided Dortmund fail to overcome visitors SSC Napoli.

"We'll take it game by game, but we're feeling really confident," said Ramsey of the Gunners' standing in the section. "Having lost [2-1] at home against Dortmund there was a bit of pressure to go there and get a result, which we did and did ever so well. We're back in a strong position again, so let's take in the next game and hopefully get a win there and put ourselves in a strong position to qualify."

Having added something – a cutting edge – to his game that was hitherto lacking, Ramsey is not one to rest on his laurels, saying "there is always room for improvement, which I'm working hard on". Who better to learn off than New York Red Bulls striker Thierry Henry, who is training with his old employers during the Major League Soccer off-season.

"It's great to see a legend like him come back and train with us and be part of the squad," explained Ramsey of Arsenal's 228-goal all-time leading marksman. "He's done everything in the game and won things here, so he can pass on his experiences to the rest of this young team and help us along. It's great to have him back."
