Article body
With qualification already assured, Manuel Pellegrini wants Manchester City FC to "play well" at home to FC Viktoria Plzeň as they continue their bid to finish top of UEFA Champions League Group D. For Pavel Vrba's visitors, mixing in such exalted company has been an invaluable experience and third place is still on offer, something the coach described as "an amazing achievement".
• City and FC Bayern München have already booked round of 16 berths. City need to at least match the holders' result at PFC CSKA Moskva to keep alive their hopes of winning the group. Plzeň must at least equal CSKA's result to stay in contention for third and a UEFA Europa League spot.

Manuel Pellegrini, manager
I think it is very important to win the group but it is not the most important thing – the most important thing is to qualify. It is very important to play well also. What's most important is to win and then we will see what happens.
[Stevan] Jovetić, [David] Silva and [Jack] Rodwell will be out for at least one week or ten days more. They will not play tomorrow or next Sunday [at home to Swansea City AFC]. Vincent [Kompany] this week started doing some work with the whole squad, so next week he could [be ready] to play. He won't be involved.
Weekend result
Sunday: City 6-0 Tottenham Hotspur FC (Navas 1 90, Sandro og 34, Agüero 41 50, Negredo 55)
Pantilimon; Zabaleta, Demichelis, Nastasić (Lescott 46), Clichy; Navas, Fernandinho, Touré (García 69), Nasri (Milner 77); Agüero, Negredo.
• City maintained their incredible run of form at home in the Premier League where they have won all six games this season, scoring 26 goals. In the process, they climbed to fourth in the table.
Team news
Jovetić, Silva and Rodwell remain sidelined; Kompany is still unavailable despite returning to training.
Plzeň
Pavel Vrba, coach
It doesn't surprise me [that City have scored so many at home] as they're a very strong team. The game for top spot will be in two weeks' time, but Bayern will want to win against CSKA to strengthen their position before then. This will make this game extremely difficult, but we'll just have to do our best.
In my opinion there are ten top teams in Europe that are just not going to be beaten and two of them are City and Bayern. We're unlucky to have drawn them both in our group. We've done well to qualify for the group stage, the second time we've done it, and even though it's been difficult against these teams, it's been a good experience for us now and for the future.
We have watched highlights of City's games and can see they're a very strong team. They've got a busy schedule though, so we're hoping they might not play their strongest side. Any game from now on is a huge experience for us and we'll be aiming to give them something of a hard time.
Bayern [away] was quite an experience and we didn't play very well. The quality of their team, their ability and the situation was all daunting for us, but I think we can draw on that and won't be as overwhelmed here. Given the size of our club, if we were to finish third in this group it would be an amazing achievement.
Weekend result
Friday: FC Zbrojovka Brno 1-3 Plzeň (Skalák 4; Horváth 45pen, Tecl 61, 85)
Kozáčik; Rajtoral, Čišovský, Procházka, Hubník; Horváth; Hořava, Petržela (Ďuriš 73), Kolář; Limberský (Kovařík 77); Tecl (Bakoš 86).
• Stanislav Tecl scored twice as Plzeň came from behind to claim their third successive Czech First League win. The 23-year-old has hit eight goals in 11 starts for the club this season.
Team news
Vrba has a clean bill of health. "We've tried changing our lineup for away games a couple of times before and it didn't work out for us either time, so I don't think we'll do it on this occasion," said the coach.
Match fact
• This is Plzeň's first visit to England while City having lost just one of their last 22 UEFA competition fixtures in Manchester.
