Left-back David Alaba has extended his contract with European champions FC Bayern München by three years until summer 2018.
The 21-year old Austrian international has already won two Bundesliga titles, one German Cup and the UEFA Champions League with Bayern, who he joined aged 16 following a spell in the youth ranks at FK Austria Wien. Currently he is forming a blossoming partnership with Franck Ribéry on the left.
"I am very, very happy," Alaba said. "I have been at FC Bayern since 2008, in this time it has become my club. I am happy that everything has been sorted now and I get to play for this club until 2018 at least."
Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge added: "David, who came to FC Bayern as a 16-year-old, has undergone great development and is now one of the best and most successful full-backs in Europe. The coach is very pleased, we are very pleased. David has played a big part in our many successes this year."
Aiming to become the first club to successfully defend the UEFA Champions League title, Bayern are already into the round of 16 and need only avoid a two-goal defeat at home to Manchester City FC next Tuesday to win Group D.
