Andrea Pirlo has been ruled out of Juventus' UEFA Champions League Group B decider at Galatasaray AŞ next Tuesday after suffering a knee injury in the early stages of Sunday's 1-0 win against Udinese Calcio.

The Italy playmaker, 34, underwent tests today which confirmed damage to the medial collateral ligament of his right knee. That almost certainly means he will not travel to Turkey for a match which will decide who will join section winners Real Madrid CF in the last 16 – the Bianconeri need a point but will miss out if Galatasaray prevail.

Pirlo, who twice won the UEFA Champions League with AC Milan, has been in the starting XI for every one of Juventus' 15 games in Europe's elite club competition over the past two seasons.
