Real Madrid CF defender Pepe is a doubt for the UEFA Champions League final against Club Atlético de Madrid after suffering an injury to his left calf.

The 31-year-old Portuguese international – who has featured in all but one of Madrid's 12 UEFA Champions League games en route to the Lisbon final – sustained the problem during Wednesday's 1-1 Liga draw at Real Valladolid CF. Tests at club headquarters revealed a "grade one muscular injury", which could keep the centre-back sidelined for a fortnight. Madrid face Atlético on 24 May and lie third in the Spanish league, four points behind their city rivals with two matches remaining.
