Brahimi shares the credit after hat-trick for Porto

Yacine Brahimi marked his UEFA Champions League debut with a hat-trick, but it was FC Porto's pressing game that drew the most plaudits against FC BATE Borisov.

Yacine Brahimi, Porto midfielder
It was my first match at this level. We wanted to do a good job and we've started this competition in the best possible manner. I was lucky enough to score the goals but it's thanks to my team-mates as I play with very good players and that makes my life easier. I'm very happy to have scored the three goals as it's the first hat-trick of my career and it gives me the desire to work even harder.

I've only just arrived here, joining only two months ago, and I've still got a lot to learn and a lot of things to work on. I think Porto is the right club for me and it was kind of the fans to give me a standing ovation when I was substituted. We've got great fans here and I hope they'll give us the same fervent backing all season long and I hope we'll have more beautiful matches like that one.

Vincent Aboubakar, Porto forward
Collectively, we played very well. I was lucky enough to score and I need to continue in the same vein. For my goal I saw that Cristian Tello had beaten his man on the outside and then I knew that I was in a good position and that he'd get the ball to me at the right time. When I received the ball it was all about getting the control right and then I finished it off with my second touch.

Jackson Martínez, Porto forward
It was very important to score early. We knew it would be a difficult start as BATE clearly had a strategy coming here based on stopping our game but we managed to find a way to get past them. The message from our coach is very important: It doesn't matter if you're winning 2-0, 3-0 or 4-0, you have to keep pressing your opponents as if you were losing. We need to keep our intensity and our concentration regardless of the scoreline.

We won 6-0 but it still only means three points. It is only the first match of the group and we still have five difficult fixtures ahead, starting with Shakhtar Donetsk.

Sergei Chernik, BATE goalkeeper
It was a very hard game for us but it's difficult to say what the result would have been if I'd not made such a foolish mistake for the first goal. Maybe I was caught in two minds as to what to do. I saw my team-mate and I wanted to throw it to him but then another began to move and I stopped mid-flow.

Porto gave us a good footballing lesson and we have to take on board a lot about how to play against such strong teams. Our coach gave us a game strategy but the first goal broke that. We made too many defensive mistakes and Porto showed their quality, taking their chances. Six goals conceded is six goals conceded; life doesn't stop here and we have five more games to play.

Julen Lopetegui, Porto coach
We had a good game. We started very well, focused, and settled after the early goal. We are happy, the players did a good job but it's only three points. Every match starts at 0-0, and everything depends on what you do and not what you say. We are really happy but, as I say, these are only three points.

We are training to make our team play better: attack better, defend better, and we have been putting together some good performances, like against Lille and again today. My team had a great defensive mindset. When we didn't have the ball we were very aggressive and quick to recover it.

Aleksandr Yermakovich, BATE coach
There is not much to say – we never expected this result. We knew the team we were facing was very strong. We apologise to our fans and hope for better results in the future. We were playing against a very good team, and that mistake from our keeper for the first goal hurt us. It's understandable at this level.

At home we will be better prepared. We have a lot of work ahead, and we will learn from our mistakes.
