Humiliated in the Portuguese Cup at A. Académica de Coimbra at the weekend, FC Porto rallied impressively to win 2-0 at FC Shakhtar Donetsk in the UEFA Champions League, consigning their hosts to finishing bottom of Group H and setting up a final-day denouement at home to FC Zenit St Petersburg.

João Moutinho, Porto midfielder
Tonight you have seen the real Porto. In our last match, in the cup, we played badly, but now it was a completely different story. We controlled the game and scored two goals without reply. That doesn't obscure the fact that Shakhtar are strong and worthy opponents. It was extremely tough to play here and we didn't think we could score two goals in Donetsk. Now there's another difficult game against Zenit ahead of us. It's vital for Porto always to play as well as tonight.

Hulk, Porto forward
Shakhtar are a very strong team with top-class players, especially the Brazilians up front. It's hard to play against them, but 2-0 was a pretty fair result. Shakhtar had a lot of chances, but we could have scored more. I've just been told that I was chosen as man of the match – I'm happy, but that just proves that the team as a whole performed well. You can't be best without the help of your team-mates. Now we have a great chance to qualify as we play the next match at home. We just need to be as focused as were tonight. We knew that if we came here with determination and showed our quality we could win. That's what happened. We were very focused and I'm very happy about this important result for us. All the players deserve praise.

Tomáš Hübschman, Shakhtar midfielder
It's hard to comment after a game like this – I can only say that we'll need to draw some conclusions as we wanted to make a step forward in the Champions League this season, but have taken a step back instead. We should analyse the games we have played, identify the problems and get back to our previous standard. Today we controlled the ball well and created enough chances, but our opponents pounced on our two mistakes and scored two goals, while we failed to punish Porto for their lapses.

Henrik Mkhitaryan, Shakhtar midfielder
We lacked concentration and a clinical touch. We played to win, but we made two errors and let in two goals, and we couldn't do anything about that. We hit the post twice. After that, we probably thought a goal was coming very soon, but it was Porto who actually opened the scoring. We really wanted to win and that is why we left space for them to play in – sometimes we were not able to get back and cover and they punished us for that. The first goal just killed us mentally, while the second didn't really change anything. But it's not right to blame any player now. Football is a team sport so we all are to blame.
