Emery urges Valencia to relish Chelsea challenge

We played a complete game and now we are left with one last chance against Chelsea in our final encounter. If we win, we will qualify. We started tonight at a high level of intensity and we tried to score as many goals as we could because we knew that it could be important in terms of the group standings. We achieved our objective and our players will grow in confidence because of that.

We need to remain focused now and forget about tonight's game even though it was a beautiful one for us and one in which we managed to score a lot of goals. We're looking at our last chance and although we know it will be tricky [against Chelsea], it will be a fantastic challenge.

It would have suited us had Chelsea won tonight; we would have even looked favourably had those teams drawn. Bayer Leverkusen have demonstrated on many occasions that they are strong rivals and they've now taken advantage.

In our last match against Chelsea any draw of 1-1 or better will do us. Our mentality will be to go there to win. We'll have a chance in London to see what we are capable of. We will have to play with intelligence and strength and try to enjoy the moment.

I said to the players in the dressing room that this is a level too high for us. At half-time I also said that in possession we did not do so bad at all. However, whenever we lost the ball, anywhere on the pitch, we left everything open for them and gave away too much space. They punished us without showing any mercy.

I have to say we got the first two chances and we should have been sharper. Again, in possession we did not do too badly, especially on the wings. When we lost the ball on the left wing in an identical situation four times they reached our goal, and four times they scored. It was a bit a repeat of the Chelsea [away] match.

The second half we played a bit more compactly, but then we gave away even more space for them to play football. Then we were pushed back even more. We defended very immaturely.

What will I remember about this campaign? We still have one more home match, and at home we are still unbeaten. Overall this level, especially this group, is too strong for us. Only a few days from now we will play again. This is football, and we have to learn a lesson from this.
