I don't remember people ever leaving the Maksimir so happy even though their team lost. Maybe Madrid underestimated us a bit in the first half an hour, but later on they started to play. I don't like to lose, though I am thinking positively after this defeat. Perhaps this good performance is something to build on for our matches against Lyon and Ajax. Maybe we can play at the same level against them.

Aitor Karanka, Madrid assistant coach
If anyone thought that this was going to be an easy game for us they would have been very wrong. Dinamo came out tonight extremely motivated. Their fans were always behind the team and kept them going throughout the match.
Wherever you travel there are surprises and the Champions League is not an easy thing to win.

We've taken three points at a difficult ground. We need to continue on the path we are on, growing and working in order to do things as we should. When you achieve good results it makes things that bit easier on the training pitch. If we continue in this manner until the end we will see the fruits of our labour. We've been working hard since pre-season and we are only thinking about ourselves, not other teams.
