Seydou Keita has ruled out the possibility of complacency creeping into FC Barcelona's play at FC Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday, despite a 5-1 first-leg win propelling Josep Guardiola's men to the verge of the UEFA Champions League semi-finals for a fourth consecutive season.
Shakhtar require a minor miracle to keep their superb run in the competition going, but Keita denied that Barcelona thoughts could turn to Saturday's trip to face Spanish Liga rivals Real Madrid CF – who could also lay in wait in the semi-finals should they complete their task against Tottenham Hotspur FC on Wednesday.
"We will be playing against a very difficult team and I expect a really tough game tomorrow," commented the Malian international, who fired Barça's fourth goal in the opening leg. "There won't be any problems in getting motivated for the encounter. We're not thinking about the game with Real Madrid at the moment because we're concentrating on our match with Shakhtar. We're ready for the clash and even though I'm sure it'll be a tough encounter, we'll be taking it very seriously."
Shakhtar created plenty of opportunities in the first leg but were let down by a combination of wayward finishing and opponents who proved ruthless in front of goal. The Pitmen will now be hoping to make the most of home advantage, although their sequence of 56 matches without defeat on home soil finally came to an end with Saturday's 1-0 loss to FC Obolon Kyiv.
Despite that result, Pedro Rodríguez echoed Keita's caution. "It's 90 minutes and anything can happen because they have a very strong team, with fast players like Douglas Costa and Luiz Adriano," said the Barcelona forward, who came on for the final 20 minutes of the first leg. "We have a good chance to win there and we'll go all out to do it. It's a tough game; we don't know what will happen, but we're up for it."
