Germany captain Philipp Lahm has agreed a four-year extension to his contract at FC Bayern München, tying himself to the Bundesliga champions until summer 2016.
The full-back is the latest player to commit to the Bavarian giants following recent deals signed by Franck Ribéry, Thomas Müller and Holger Badstuber. Lahm will put pen to paper over the next few days after a "delighted" Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge revealed he had accepted new terms.
It extends a lengthy association with his home-town club for the 26-year-old, who has been on Bayern's books since 1995. Save for a two-season loan spell at VfB Stuttgart he has been there ever since, winning four Bundesliga titles and four German Cups, as well as reaching last season's UEFA Champions League final.
Despite an injury crisis, Louis van Gaal's team booked their place in the round of 16 of this term's competition with two games to spare by overcoming CFR 1907 Cluj 4-0 on Wednesday.
