A goal from Rade Prica ensured Óscar Garcia's tenure as Maccabi Tel-Aviv FC coach started with a win as the Israeli side edged FC Santa Coloma in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League second qualifying round tie.
After a goalless first half, Maccabi took the lead on 64 minutes when Rade Prica headed in Sheran Yeini's cross from the right.
Garcia, who became the club's coach for a second time when he succeeded Paulo Sousa in June, will take charge of his first home match when the second leg takes place at Bloomfield in Tel-Aviv, next Tuesday.
