Olympique de Marseille have confirmed the signing of French international winger Dimitri Payet from fellow Ligue 1 side LOSC Lille.
Payet, formerly of FC Nantes and AS Saint-Étienne, has signed a four-year contract with Marseille, who finished second in last season's Ligue 1 and therefore go straight into the 2013/14 UEFA Champions League group stage. OM and Lille agreed a fee – believed to be in the region of €10m – last week, with Payet subsequently passing a medical and agreeing personal terms. "History tells us OM have won many titles in the past," said Payet last week. "This club are an institution in French sport."
Payet, 26, has scored 42 goals in 233 Ligue 1 appearances throughout his career. He has also won five caps for France, making his debut in a 2-0 victory against Romania in October 2010.
