Anderlecht bring 'home' Vanden Borre

Anthony Vanden Borre has signed a two-year deal with the club that gave him his professional debut as a 16-year-old in 2004, RSC Anderlecht.

The right-back, who can also operate in midfield, put pen to paper on Thursday at the Constant Vanden Stock stadium. Vanden Borre burst onto the scene ten years ago and became a first-team regular while still in his teens, playing alongside the likes of Vincent Kompany, Christian Wilhelmsson and Aruna Dindane.

However, his career stalled after leaving Les Mauves for ACF Fiorentina in 2007. Spells at Genoa CFC and Portsmouth FC followed, before the 25-year-old found himself without a club after being released by KRC Genk in summer 2012. Anderlecht offered their former prodigy a trial earlier this year and, after making one Eerste Klasse appearance in March, he has subsequently done enough to convince coach John van den Brom of his longer-term worth.

"I am very grateful for the faith the club have put in me," said Vanden Borre, capped 23 times by Belgium. "Last winter Anderlecht gave me the chance to restart my career. I never will forget that. I want to thank the club for this chance. I have come home again and will do everything possible to help RSCA reach their goals."

Anderlecht begin their 2013/14 UEFA Champions League campaign in the group stage.
