Dream debut
The Cameroon striker, who scored 24 goals in 37 Primera División games in his debut season at Camp Nou, has added two years to the deal he signed when joining Barcelona in a €24m transfer from RCD Mallorca last summer. His buyout fee remains fixed at €150m.
'Concerted effort to keep me'
Eto'o said: "The club have made a concerted effort to keep me here and I would like to thank the coach [Frank Rijkaard] and [sporting director Aitor] 'Txiki' [Beguiristain]. I am fortunate to play alongside some of the greatest players in one of the top clubs in the world, but without my team-mates I would be nobody.
More goals targeted
"I came to Barcelona understanding the responsibility that comes with the job," Eto'o continued. "My aim is to continue scoring many more goals for Barça and hopefully better my figures next season."
African accolade
The 24-year-old, who was on the books of CD Leganés, RCD Espanyol and Real Madrid CF before spending four and a half seasons with Mallorca, was named CAF African Player of the Year for the second time running in February. He would also have shared the ESM Golden Shoe award for Europe's top domestic goalscorer with Thierry Henry and Diego Forlán, but for a goal against Mallorca on 19 February which was controversially accredited to team-mate Deco.
