Not withstanding the 0-0 score between Trabzonspor AŞ and PFC CSKA Mosvka, the sell-out crowd at the Hüseyin Avni Aker Stadium witnessed an attractive 90 minutes of football which ultimately left both teams disappointed but very much in the Group B hunt.
Giray Kaçar, Trabzonspor defender
Obviously I'm honoured to be nominated man of the match. I was lucky to be in the right place at the right time in the second minute to clear Seydou Doumbia's ball. An early opening goal could have totally ruined our game plan. It inspired me to stay concentrated, and I think I played a tight game.
Still, what I feel most is disappointment, since we really wanted to get the three points in Trabzon. In the end both teams could have won this game. So maybe there is some logic in a defender being nominated as man of the match. When it comes to the next game [FC Internazionale Milano at home on 22 November]: we've beaten them in Milan, so why not in Trabzon?
Tolga Zengin, Trabzonspor goalkeeper
Don't forget this is Trabzonspor's very first time in the UEFA Champions League, and our lack of experience clearly shows. When I look back at the current campaign, the key game was our 3-0 defeat in Moscow two weeks ago. Over there we could and should have got one point. That would have totally changed tonight's game as well. I'm happy with my performance tonight, but even more so to be part of this Trabzonspor team. We are learning fast, and I'm looking forward to the two remaining fixtures.
Vladimir Gabulov, CSKA goalkeeper
Snatching one point playing away in the UEFA Champions League is OK I suppose, but we came from Moscow to Turkey with the idea of winning this game. After all we've beaten Trabzonspor before, so victory was within our reach.
Especially in the opening part of the game I felt we were dominant. That's where we should have scored. An early opening goal would have made our job a lot easier. A pity we didn't, and in the end we were lucky to see a ball coming back from the post. I think the spectators had a nice evening, with two teams going for the win.
