FC Barcelona will be without Zlatan Ibrahimović for the second leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final with Arsenal FC on Tuesday after the forward suffered a small tear in his right calf.
The 28-year-old had been scheduled to start the club's Liga encounter with Athletic Club on Saturday – which Barça won 4-1 – only to pull out through injury during the pre-match warm-up, with tests later revealing the extent of the injury. The Swedish international struck twice as the Azulgrana earned a 2-2 first-leg draw in London and, in addition to the return encounter with the Gunners, could also miss next Saturday's league meeting with fellow title contenders Real Madrid CF.
Already suspended for the Arsenal game, Gerard Piqué is another doubt for the Clásico with Madrid after he suffered a right thigh tear against Athletic. Jeffrén (calf) and Yaya Touré (bruised ankle) also picked up knocks in that match as Barcelona took a three-point lead at the Liga summit, and both players are expected to undergo treatment.
