Panathinaikos FC have signed Luís García on a free transfer from Real Racing Club.
The 32-year-old Spanish winger has agreed a one-year deal and said: "After a disappointing season where my playing time was limited, I have the opportunity to revitalise my career at Panathinaikos. It's a big club and once again gives me the prospect of winning titles. I have already spoken to [Djibril] Cissé and [Giourkas] Seitaridis and I know how big a club this is and how fervent their supporters are."
Luís García started his career in the youth ranks of FC Barcelona, and although he had brief spells with a number of Spanish clubs, his career truly took off after leaving the Camp Nou for Liverpool FC in 2004. He enjoyed three years at the club, winning the UEFA Champions League in 2005 alongside Cissé. Capped 18 times by Spain, he played alongside Seitaridis after joining Club Atlético de Madrid in 2007 before spending last term at Racing.
Panathinaikos, who play FC Barcelona, FC København and FC Rubin Kazan in UEFA Champions League Group D, have also announced that Swedish central defender Matias Bjärsmyr has moved to Rosenborg BK on a season-long loan.
