Austrian champions FC Salzburg have strengthened their bid to reach the UEFA Champions League group stage by signing striker Djordje Rakić from OFK Beograd.

Serbia starlet
The giant 21-year-old, who was ever-present during Serbia's run to the final of this summer's UEFA European Under-21 Championship in the Netherlands, has agreed a four-year contract with Salzburg.

'Extraordinary'
Salzburg coach Giovanni Trapattoni said of a player who scored 14 goals in 41 Serbian league games for OFK: "Rakić is already an extraordinary forward. He can shoot with both feet, he is quick and powerful. He can improve his game with us and he will give us more attacking options." Salzburg lead 1-0 going into the away leg of their UEFA Champions League third qualifying round tie against FC Shakhtar Donetsk.
