Terry commits to Chelsea future

England captain John Terry said he "never had any doubts" that he wanted to stay at Chelsea FC after signing a new five-year deal with the club on Friday.

'Never in doubt'
The 26-year-old centre-back had been contracted to the London club for another two seasons but should now stay at Stamford Bridge until 2012. He said: "I'm really happy this has been concluded. There has been a lot of speculation but these things take time. I never had any doubts that I wanted to stay at Chelsea and that the club wanted me to stay."

'Building something special'
Terry captained Chelsea to victory in both the FA Cup and English League Cup last season, after winning the championship in the previous two campaigns. He expects more success in the future. "I hope the fans can see that we are all trying to build something special here, both for now and for the future," he said. "I want to be part of that." The homegrown defender has made 214 Premier League appearances for his club, scoring 15 goals.
