The 22-year-old has been diagnosed with a bruised kidney, which he appears to have sustained during Wednesday's 2-2 first-leg draw against the Italian side in Amsterdam. "It must have happened midway through the second half when he fell badly," said coach Danny Blind. Heitinga's rehabilitation will entail three weeks of rest followed by a similar period of non-contact training. Ajax travel to Inter for the second leg on 14 March.
