Continues rehabilitation
The Finnish international's loan contract included a clause which allowed for his early return to Stamford Bridge and he will now continue his rehabilitation back in London having not played since undergoing cartilage surgery in September. Chelsea hope that Forssell will be fit to play again in April.
Success last season
Forssell joined Birmingham on loan for the 2003/04 season and enjoyed a successful campaign, scoring 17 league goals. The 23-year-old subsequently agreed to a second year at St Andrew's but hopes of continuing last season's form were dashed when he injured his knee in the Premiership match against Middlesbrough FC on 11 September.
