Club statement
The 64-year-old has agreed an open-ended contract and a club statement said: "It has been almost a month since Szabo took over as coach and we are happy about our decision which proved to be the correct one. The new coach worked out the reasons for the crisis which hit Dynamo, achieved an understanding with the players and has led them back to winning ways."
Champions League victory
Mykhaylychenko was dismissed after the 2-1 home defeat by Trabzonspor in the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round. Under Szabo, Kyiv won the second leg 2-0 in Istanbul to advance to the group stage and they have won their three other matches since he took charge.
Acclaimed coach
One of the most experienced and acclaimed Ukrainian coaches and a former Soviet international midfield player, Szabo won four league titles and the Ukrainian Cup during a previous spell in charge of the club in the 1990s. He has also coached at FC Zarya Lugansk, FC SKA Kyiv and FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk.
Roma test
Dynamo chairman Igor Surkis said: "Szabo has passed the test that he set himself. Now I wish him every success and further victories with Dynamo." Kyiv open their Champions League Group B campaign with a visit to AS Roma on Wednesday.
