Overmars out of Inter game

Marc Overmars will miss FC Barcelona's UEFA Champions League game against Internazionale FC.

Dutch winger Marc Overmars will miss FC Barcelona’s UEFA Champions League match with Internazionale FC through injury.

Thigh injury
Overmars suffered a muscle injury to his left thigh in Barcelona’s impressive 4-0 victory against Real Betis Balompié on Saturday, and had to be replaced after 42 minutes of the Primera División game having looked uncomfortable throughout the first period. The full extent of the injury is not yet known, and Overmars is due to undergo tests to establish the length of his absence.

Improving fortunes
Barcelona defeated Inter 3-0 in the Camp Nou last week to record their eleventh successive Champions League win of the season, which leaves the Spanish side in an excellent position to qualify for the quarter-finals. Domestically, Barcelona have struggled, but the replacement of Dutch coach Louis van Gaal with Radomir Antic has revitalised their fortunes, while consecutives league victories against RCD Espanyol and Betis have eased relegation fears.
