Czech international defender Tomáš Hübschman has joined Ukrainian giants FC Shakhtar Donetsk from AC Sparta Praha.
Five years
The UEFA Champions League contenders have paid an estimated €3m for the central defender who played in one match at UEFA EURO 2004™, as Karel Brückner's men overcame Germany in their final group stage game. Hübschman has signed a five-year deal with his new club.
Sparta graduate
The 22-year-old was a graduate of the Sparta youth system and has spent his entire career at the Letná stadium with the exception of a season spent on loan at FK Jablonec 97. He won his first international cap in a FIFA World Cup play-off against Belgium in November 2001 and won the UEFA European Under-21 Championship with the Czech Republic in Basel in 2002.
Czech companion
The defender will join fellow countryman Jan Lastuvka at the Shakhtar stadium. The goalkeeper joined the Donetsk club from 2003/04 Czech champions FC Baník Ostrava earlier this month. Shakhtar's Champions League campaign this season begins in the second qualifying round.
