Valencia 3-1 Monaco
Rodrigo's fourth-minute goal was cancelled out the same distance into the second half by Mario Pašalić but Daniel Parejo and the brilliant Sofiane Feghouli ensured that last season's quarter-finalists will have a tough task when they welcome the two-time runners-up on Tuesday.
Rapid Wien 0-1 Shakhtar Donetsk
Shakhtar look good for another group stage campaign thanks to a Marlos goal in the 44th minute. Rapid had pressed in the first half but will have it all to do in Lviv.
Celtic 3-2 Malmö
Celtic seemed in control when Leigh Griffiths and Nir Bitton put them 2-0 up inside the first ten minutes. But Jo Inge Berget, who spent past of last year on loan at Celtic before joining Malmö, pulled one back early in the second half and scored again deep in added time after Griffiths had restored Celtic's cushion.
Basel 2-2 Maccabi Tel-Aviv
Eran Zahavi headed a 96th-minute equaliser to give the visitors a draw in a match Basel had dominated. Zahavi had also scored first just past the half-hour but Matías Delgado soon equalised from the spot and Breel Embolo appeared to have won it with two minutes to go.
Skënderbeu 1-2 Dinamo Zagreb
On a night of late goals, Josip Pivarić got Dinamo's winner three minutes into added time. Skënderbeu, the first Albanian side to play in this round, had led at the break through Blendi Shkëmbi's free-kick but El Arabi Hilal Soudani equalised in the 66th minute.
