The UEFA Champions League brand identity for the 2016 final in Milan was officially unveiled today in Monaco at this season's opening draw. The design fuses the prestige of the competition with the unique spirit of the host city.
Milan is a vibrant, modern city with a rich cultural history. The final design prominently features the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, which is renowned as Milan's central meeting place. It is an iconic landmark that combines the city's classic heritage balanced with contemporary appeal.
The centre piece of the design is the UEFA Champions League trophy. It stands in the middle of the Galleria, under the majestic glass dome and surrounded by intricate floor mosaics and frescos. The quintessential UEFA Champions League blue is subtly complemented by yellow and red accent colours derived from the Milan city crest.
To create a unique experience for all fans, the design will figure prominently across the city and particularly around and inside the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. On 28 May 2016, it will be the fourth time that the winner of the European Cup is decided in Milan.
The brand identity for the 2016 final in Milan has been developed in collaboration with UEFA's marketing partner TEAM Marketing AG in Lucerne and the London-based creative agency Designwerk.
