Italian title holders Juventus have further bolstered their ranks with the signing of 27-year-old Rômulo on a one-year loan from Hellas Verona FC.

The Bianconeri will pay €1m for the deal and will have the option to make it permanent for a fee of €6m at the end of the season. The move will also become permanent should Rômulo play in at least 60% of his new club's competitive fixtures this season.

Rômulo, who can play in midfield and as a defender, moved to Italy from Brazil in 2011 when he signed for ACF Fiorentina. He scored six goals in 32 Serie A appearances for Verona last term.

Juve, who have won the last three successive league titles under Antonio Conte, will enter the UEFA Champions League at the group stage. Massimiliano Allegri's men start their Serie A defence against AC Chievo Verona at the end of the month.
