Juventus laid down the law against Serie A rivals AS Roma on a weekend that brought victory for Chelsea FC at home to Arsenal FC and a new record for FC Barcelona.

Juventus came out on top against AS Roma in Sunday's high-profile Serie A showdown, after Chelsea FC similarly imposed their will on Premier League rivals Arsenal FC. There were eye-catching wins too for the likes of FC Bayern München and Real Madrid CF, for whom Cristiano Ronaldo struck a third hat-trick in four games, while Malmö FF clinched the Swedish title and FC Barcelona set a new record.

Group A
Club Atlético de Madrid suffered a first Liga defeat this term, 3-1 at Valencia CF.
Juventus won a top-of-the-table clash with AS Roma 3-2, Leonardo Bonucci scoring four minutes from time after Carlos Tévez's double. 
• Markus Rosenberg struck late as Malmö defeated AIK Solna 3-2 to secure the Swedish title for a second successive year. 
Olympiacos FC's home test against Greek leaders PAOK FC was postponed.

Real Madrid clinched their fourth consecutive Liga win, downing Athletic Club 5-0 as Cristiano Ronaldo hit another hat-trick.
FC Basel 1893 lost to FC St Gallen for the second time this season, a 2-1 defeat allowing FC Zürich to move top in Switzerland. 
Liverpool FC overcame West Bromwich Albion FC 2-1, their first win in five games in all competitions.
PFC Ludogorets Razgrad failed to prevail for the second week in a row in Bulgaria, drawing 0-0 with PFC Slavia Sofia.

AS Monaco FC's trip to the French capital ended in a 1-1 draw at Paris Saint-Germain, Anthony Martial levelling in added time.
FC Zenit will not be in action again until their meeting with FC Krasnodar on 18 October.
Bayer 04 Leverkusen surrendered second spot in the Bundesliga with a 2-2 draw against SC Paderborn.
• Portuguese Liga pacesetters SL Benfica impressed in a 4-0 victory at home to FC Arouca.

Borussia Dortmund are ten points shy of the Bundesliga summit having lost 1-0 to Hamburger SV.
• Goals from Eden Hazard and Diego Costa condemned Arsenal to a 2-0 loss at Chelsea FC to leave the Gunners nine points off the leaders. 
Galatasaray AŞ won 2-1 at Kayseri Erciyesspor through goals from Burak Yılmaz and Wesley Sneijder.
RSC Anderlecht continue to hold sway in Belgium despite Sunday's 0-0 draw with KRC Genk.

• Bundeslig frontrunners Bayern recorded a 4-0 defeat of Hannover 96.
Roma dropped Serie A points for the first time, suffering a 3-2 defeat to Juventus, who pulled three points clear. 
• Yaya Touré and Sergio Agüero struck late to give Manchester City FC a 2-0 victory against Aston Villa FC.
PFC CSKA Moskva next face FC Kuban Krasnodar on 18 October.

Paris Saint-Germain went ahead through Lucas against Monaco but ultimately had to settle for a 1-1 stalemate.
• Lionel Messi and Neymar earned Barcelona a record-breaking 2-0 triumph at Rayo Vallecano de Madrid.
Ajax FC lost ground on PSV Eindhoven at the top of the Eredivisie following a 0-0 home draw with PEC Zwolle. 
APOEL FC will hope to cement their place at the top in Cyprus when they travel to Othellos Athienou FC on Monday night.

Chelsea restored their five-point cushion in the Premier League with a 2-0 home success against London rivals Arsenal FC. 
FC Schalke 04 suffered a third away defeat of the season in the Bundesliga, falling 2-1 at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.
• Tavares scored a 91st-minute equaliser for NK Maribor, who drew 3-3 with NK Olimpija Ljubljana to lose ground on leaders NK Domžale.
• Islam Slimani scored two of Sporting Clube de Portugal's four second-half goals in a 4-0 win at FC Penafiel.

• Juan Quintero hit the winner as FC Porto saw off SC Braga 2-1 in Portugal.
FC BATE Borisov returned to winning ways in Belarus after three successive draws, coming from behind to win 2-1 at FC Gomel. 
FC Shakhtar Donetsk had Vyacheslav Shevchuk dismissed in a 1-0 loss at FC Dynamo Kyiv.
• Struggling Athletic slipped to a fifth Liga reverse this term, losing 5-0 at Real Madrid.
