FC Bayern München right-back Rafinha is set to miss the start of his team's UEFA Champions League campaign after rupturing a ligament in his left ankle.
The Brazilian defender emerged as a first-team regular under Josep Guardiola last season but now looks destined for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after picking up the injury during training. "Of course I am very disappointed," said the 28-year-old. "I was having a really good preparation until now. I am very, very sad."
Semi-finalists last term, Bayern will return to the UEFA Champions League in the group stage, after beginning their Bundesliga defence against VfL Wolfsburg on 22 August.
