Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden has become just the third player born this millennium to feature in the UEFA Champions League.
ALL-TIME RECORDS AND STATISTICS
Foden was born on 28 May 2000, meaning he came on for City in their matchday five fixture against Feyenoord at the age of just 17 years and 177 days. His debut comes almost a year to the day since Moise Kean made history for Juventus by becoming the first 2000-born player to figure in the competition. He was just 16 years and 267 days old at the time.
Another Bianconeri youngster, Fabrizio Caligara – born on 12 April 2000 – emulated Kean's feat on matchday one of the current campaign, appearing for the last three minutes of Juve's 3-0 defeat at Barcelona.
Neither the Juve pair nor Foden bother the youngest players in UEFA Champions League history, though the latter – a FIFA U-17 World Cup winner with England last month when he struck twice in the final, as well as one of UEFA.com's ones to watch from the UEFA European Under-17 Championship in May – could still become the youngest scorer should he find the net on matchday six.
