Yes [we had to dig in], especially after going down to ten men [when Mathieu Debuchy was sent off after 75 minutes]. We knew it was going to be very tough, that they were going to throw everyone forward, and we defended really well. It was a good test of character for us and so we are delighted to have won the game.
When you play for Arsenal you expect to play Champions League football every year so it was the least the fans could expect from us, to qualify through the play-offs and get to the group stage. We want to do as well as we can in the group stage and thereafter, but for now this was the minimum.
Alexis Sánchez's goal will give him a lot of confidence. It is always hard to adapt when you come to England. He is very sharp, very strong and he can play out on the wing and up front. He has been fantastic for us so far and keeps getting better and better so hopefully there will be many more goals to come from him.
It's always exciting in the Champions League. You always come up against the best teams in Europe so I am not going to pay too much attention to that [the draw], but hopefully there are some good trips coming up.
Oğuzhan Özyakup, Beşiktaş midfielder
We had to defend good as a team, compact. We did that well because you know if you give Arsenal a lot of space here they can play good [football] because they have top players. We played really well defensively as a team in the first half, but the goal just before half-time hurt us a little bit.
[We can take a lot of confidence into the UEFA Europa League] because even in the first game we showed everyone what we are about. Even here in the last 20 minutes we pressed so hard and you know we tried to create chances, but that last pass just didn't come off. This is something to be proud of as a team and this gives hope for the season.
It's good [to play European football], but our goal is of course to play in the Champions League. If I look at the teams that have qualified for the group stage we know that we are better than them, but then you have a team like Arsenal that you have to play against and you know it is going to be hard. Even the Europa [League] is very, very good.
It was good [to be back]. I made my professional debut here in the League Cup. It is a very big club. Of course, it felt a little bit different, but when you are on the pitch you just have to play.
