Last season's UEFA Champions League-winning coach Jupp Heynckes said he was delighted to see his triumphant FC Bayern München side on the front of the 26th edition of the European Football Yearbook, which has been launched at the 2013/14 group stage draw in Monaco.
"The European Football Yearbook is a first-class publication that is widely respected and admired across the continent," said the 68-year-old, who stepped down as Bayern coach after winning an extraordinary treble last season. "Its comprehensive coverage of every aspect of the European game makes it a goldmine of information. I am delighted to see Bayern players parading the UEFA Champions League trophy on this year's front cover."
The only authoritative annual on the European game, the European Football Yearbook features detailed coverage of all of UEFA's club, futsal and national team competitions, as well as the domestic men's competitions run by UEFA's member associations in 2012/13. Along with detailed statistics, the 752-page book – printed for the first time in full colour throughout – features narrative reviews of each competition and a selection of the campaign's 100 best players.
Each UEFA member association's season is revisited in fine detail, with national team results and match-by-match player appearances followed by a club-by-club section where all the top-division teams' league results and player appearances are listed. League tables and domestic cup results are also included along with club honours, stadiums and directory information.
The brainchild of general editor Mike Hammond, who published the first edition in 1988, the book has been produced in conjunction with UEFA.com since the 2007/08 edition.
"The publication's aim, as it has been for over a quarter of a century, is to provide a unique and comprehensive annual source of reference on European football that is also attractive to look at and enjoyable to read," said Hammond. "I believe this new-look edition not only continues to tick all these boxes but should also, with its visual improvements, appeal to an even wider audience of European football followers than before."
Published by Carlton, the 2013/14 European Football Yearbook will be available to buy in bookshops and online from September, and can be pre-ordered at Amazon.co.uk.
