AC Milan have completed the signing of Nigel de Jong from Manchester City FC for an undisclosed fee although contract details are yet to be released.
The Dutch international made 104 top-flight appearances during four seasons in Manchester and City manager Roberto Mancini wished him luck in Italy. "I am sorry because Nigel was an important player for us but if he is happy then I am happy for him," he said. "I am sure he will do really well in Serie A."
De Jong, a losing finalist in the 2010 FIFA World Cup with the Netherlands, passed a medical on Friday morning and confirmed the deal. "I'm sure Milan will be competitive both in Italy and in Europe," the former AFC Ajax trainee said.
The 27-year-old will take his place in the Rossoneri's UEFA Champions League squad as they prepare for a Group C campaign alongside RSC Anderlecht, Málaga CF and FC Zenit St Petersburg.
