Article body
AS Roma captain Francesco Totti will miss Wednesday's UEFA Champions League game away to Sporting Clube de Portugal after failing to recover from a foot injury.
Time out
Totti, 31, received a bad knock on his right foot in the 2-1 home win against the Portuguese side a fortnight ago and was replaced by Mirko Vučinić after 35 minutes. He was not expected to be out of action for long after scans revealed he had not fractured any bones, but he is still feeling pain and has already missed Serie A games against AC Milan, S.S. Lazio and Empoli FC.
Injury list
The Giallorossi are second in Group D with six points from three games, three points behind leaders Manchester United FC and three above Sporting. Totti, who has scored seven goals in as many Serie A games this season and one in the UEFA Champions League, joins Alberto Aquilani, Taddei, Christian Panucci and Marco Andreolli on Roma's injury list.
