UEFA Champions League winners FC Barcelona have signed right-back Aleix Vidal from Sevilla FC.

Vidal – who helped Sevilla retain the UEFA Europa League this season – was officially presented on Monday following a medical. The defender, 25, has agreed a five-year deal with the Azulgrana.

"The most important thing is that I'm returning to the place that was my home," said the former Juvenil B team player, who was converted from winger to full-back by Sevilla coach Unai Emery. "Every player wants to make a living as a footballer and I have had to play for many teams before coming here, but I hope this is my last club. After the birth of my daughter this is the happiest day of my life."

Vidal had only been at Sevilla for a season, having joined from UD Almería last summer. He made 31 league appearances and 11 in Europe, most notably scoring twice in the UEFA Europa League semi-final first-leg defeat of ACF Fiorentina.
