Anatoliy Tymoshchuk has returned to FC Zenit after leaving European champions FC Bayern München as a free agent to rejoin the club he previously represented between 2007 and 2009.
The Ukraine midfielder has signed a two-year contract with Zenit, who finished second in the Russian Premier League this term. The 34-year-old made 86 Bundesliga appearances in four seasons with Bayern, and although he remained on the bench during the UEFA Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund, he came on as a substitute in Saturday's 3-2 German Cup final win versus VfB Stuttgart as Bayern completed an historic treble.
"Despite the offers from many countries, I have decided to tie my future to the club where I had plenty of joyful moments," said Tymoshchuk. "My contract starts on 1 July and for the next two years I will be a Zenit player. We hope to achieve new victories. See you in St Petersburg."
