André Schürrle has completed his move from Bayer 04 Leverkusen to Chelsea FC after putting pen to paper on a five-year contract.
The German international midfielder scored 18 goals in 65 Bundesliga appearances for Leverkusen after joining the club from 1. FSV Mainz 05 in 2011. "I am so happy now I have signed and it is an honour for me to play for this club, with this team and for these great fans," said the 22-year-old, who has netted seven goals in 24 appearances for Germany. "I am really looking forward to it."
Schürrle is the first player to arrive at Stamford Bridge since José Mourinho's return and will hope to show the sort of form that helped him score 11 league goals last term. The west London club begin the Premier League season at home to Hull City AFC on 17 August and face FC Bayern München in the UEFA Super Cup in Prague 13 days later.
