Right-back Marco Cassetti has committed himself to AS Roma for a further season, with the 33-year-old's new contract with the UEFA Champions League hopefuls due to expire in 2011.
Cassetti, capped five times for Italy, has played over 100 Serie A games for Roma since joining from US Lecce in 2006. He scored twice in 29 league appearances last season as Roma finished second to FC Internazionale Milano to secure a UEFA Champions League group stage place. They also lost to Inter in the Italian Cup final.
"I am looking forward to meeting up with my team-mates again after my holidays," said Cassetti. "I'm sure we can continue to get great results next season starting with the Italian Super Cup against Inter in August."
Cassetti's new deal continues a busy spell for Roma, who rubber-stamped a new contract for goalkeeper Júlio Sérgio on Monday, which will expire in 2014. On Wednesday, the club announced the signing of midfielder Fábio Simplício on a free transfer from US Città di Palermo.
