GROUP A

Highlights: Atlético 2-0 Monaco

Atlético Madrid 2-0 Monaco
Atlético confirmed progress in the early kick-off and ended the European hopes of Thierry Henry's young Monaco side. Koke struck Atlético's fastest-ever UEFA Champions League goal in the second minute and midway through the first half Antoine Griezmann added another. Monaco improved after the interval but substitute Radamel Falcao, given a hero's welcome by his former fans in Madrid, missed a late penalty following a Stefan Savić hand ball for which he received a second yellow card.

Borussia Dortmund 0-0 Club Brugge
A point was all Dortmund needed to book their round of 16 spot and that was what they got. The home side had the better of the few available chances while Club Brugge will be heading for the UEFA Europa League round of 32.

GROUP B

Highlights: PSV 1-2 Barcelona

PSV Eindhoven 1-2 Barcelona
Already through before today, Barcelona sealed first place in their group for a 12th year running, and a record 17th year overall, after a 61st-minute goal by Lionel Messi, whose free-kick shortly afterwards was turned in by Gerard Piqué. PSV hit the woodwork twice at 0-0 and Luuk de Jong pulled one back late on, but the defeat consigned them to fourth position.

Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 Internazionale Milano
Christian Eriksen's strike ten minutes from time kept Spurs in the last-16 hunt and lifted them into second, above Inter (who would have been through with a draw) on head-to-head away goals. Harry Winks had rattled the bar in a strong Tottenham performance and they must now secure as many points at Barcelona as Inter do at home to PSV.

GROUP C

Highlights: Paris 2-1 Liverpool

Paris Saint-Germain 2-1 Liverpool
Paris began the night with elimination a possibility, yet instead are now a victory at Crvena zvezda away from the round of 16. Juan Bernat opened the scoring on 13 minutes, then Neymar became the first Brazilian to register 31 UEFA Champions League goals. Just before half-time James Milner reduced arrears from the penalty spot on his 150th Liverpool appearance but Paris held firm and Liverpool have to beat Napoli to have a chance of progress.

Napoli 3-1 Crvena zvezda
Napoli knew victory would take them through if Paris did not win, and although the result in France did not go their way, the Serie A club still picked up three essential points and ruined Crvena zvezda's round of 16 dream. Marek Hamšík scored in the 11th minute and Dries Mertens added two more either side of half-time before El Fardou Ben Nabouhane cut the deficit. Napoli lead the group but still require a point at Liverpool to rubber-stamp qualification.

GROUP D

Highlights: Lokomotiv Moskva 2-0 Galatasaray

Lokomotiv Moskva 2-0 Galatasaray
Galatasaray's last-16 attempt was curtailed as Lokomotiv got off the mark and closed the gap to their visitors to one point in the race for third. Moments before half-time Grzegorz Krychowiak's shot deflected in off the luckless Ryan Donk, and it was 2-0 on 54 minutes when Vladislav Ignatyev finished off a fine passing move.

Porto 3-1 Schalke
The earlier result in Moscow ensured both teams in Porto went through before kick-off. Pole position was still at stake, however, and Porto got the win they needed to guarantee seeding in the round of 16 draw. Deft finishes from Éder Militão and Jesús Corona within four second-half minutes set Porto on their way, and despite Nabil Bentaleb's late penalty, Moussa Marega made it 3-1 at the death.
