Reporter's view: The brilliance of Liverpool's front three has been well documented this season – particularly following January's 4-3 win over City – but Klopp's back four struggled for long periods in Saturday's 2-1 triumph at Crystal Palace, whose profligacy spared the visitors. City will not be as forgiving – even without the injured Sergio Agüero.

Jürgen Klopp, Liverpool manager
We want to go as far as possible in the competition, so we have to face the best teams in the world. City's confidence is probably at an outstandingly high level, but we're in a good moment as well. I like difficult tasks, I like difficult jobs. For a manager it's the most interesting – what to do and how to prepare your boys as best as possible. It's a big opportunity and we'll try everything to win.
Josep Guardiola, Manchester City manager
Everyone's talking about how tough Liverpool will be, but it would be the same for Barcelona, Bayern or Sevilla. In the quarter-finals, you have to expect your opponents to be one of the toughest teams in the world. The way we play is perfect for Liverpool. Of course we will try to do something [to stop them], but I feel the best way to win is to play how we've been doing as a group all season.
