2016 UEFA Europa League final highlights

Jürgen Klopp, Liverpool manager

I expect a very strong Sevilla side. [Playing against teams like this] is what the Champions League is all about. They've done an outstanding job in the last few years. They have all our respect. They're a very strong side. We're aware of who we're about to face.

Eduardo Berizzo, Sevilla coach

We're growing as a team. We gained confidence against Eibar in our last league match and I'm looking for a repeat performance. We're humble, we know it'll be a big task for us, but we have a lot of confidence in our own abilities.

Manchester City 5-0 Liverpool
Sevilla 3-0 Eibar

Surprises and thunderbolts: matchday one flashback

Reporter's view: Matthew Howarth (@UEFAcomMattH)

Liverpool's impressive start to the campaign came to an abrupt end at Manchester City last weekend, but that 5-0 defeat has to be taken in context: The visitors were very much in the game until Sadio Mané’s 37th-minute red card, with Mané and Mohamed Salah wreaking havoc on the flanks in the first half. I'm expecting a re-energised display from Jürgen Klopp's side against Sevilla and – more importantly from the hosts' point of view – a winning start in Group E.
