Sporting are the only team in our group we haven't scored against yet – we want to change that. We must play efficiently in both defence and attack. I don't think it will be a very open game – maybe the result will be decided in the 70th, 80th or even 90th minute.

We know a lot about Sporting, they're a great team. They have super wingers, they use set pieces very well, they have striker who is excellent in the air. But this is a one-off game, we are at home and I believe we can qualify. It's a real privilege to be playing for more than just pride in our last match. If we win, we will go into the UEFA Europa League and I believe we can meet in this press room again in the new year to speak about the Europa League.

If we qualify for the Europa League then great, but if not, it won't be the biggest disappointment of our lives. I was a little bit disappointed that we haven't qualified for the round of 16, but we've been in a 'group of death' against very demanding rivals.

It's cold here but we have experienced players who've already played in difficult conditions so I am not worried about that. I also know there will be lots of fans here, but again that won't affect us – we're used to playing in front of big crowds. If we implement what we've planned tactically, everything should be OK. It doesn't matter that our next [Liga] game is against Benfica, because on Wednesday the only game that matters is this one. Our aim is clear: to reach the Europa League.

Legia have conceded 24 goals in their five group games so the key is obvious: defend better. Their five matches have brought 32 goals overall at an average of 6.4 a game, but don't expect that trend to continue against sporting Sporting. The Portuguese side are favourites but, as Legia coach Magiera says, this is a one-off match. Legia are at home in front of a sell-out crowd – and they believe they can go through. The attacking potential is there, yet the defence must deliver if they want to succeed.
