Real Madrid and København among resounding winners

København and Real Madrid scored 13 between them in thumping cup triumphs on a Wednesday when Celtic, Club Brugge and Juventus were handsome victors in league play.

Swiss Cup runners-up in three of the last four seasons, Basel are through to the quarter-finals after a comfortable win against third-division opposition.

Group B
Napoli 2-0 Empoli  (Mertens 51, Chiricheş 81)
Vlad Chiricheş's first goal of the season rubber-stamped the points for third-placed Napoli, who visit Juventus on Saturday.

Dynamo Kyiv 5-2 Zorya Luhansk, aet (González 13 97, Tsygankov 65, Júnior Moraes 101pen 119pen; Forster 22pen, Sivakov 89)
Two extra-time penalties from Júnior Moraes helped Dynamo seal a berth in the Ukrainian Cup quarter-finals.

Manchester United 1-0 Manchester City(Mata 54)
Juan Mata condemned the holders to a fourth-round exit at Old Trafford, sweeping in a pass from Zlatan Ibrahimović. City are six matches without a win.

Celtic scored three times in the closing stages as they moved seven points clear at the top of the Scottish Premier League, substitutes Scott Sinclair and Moussa Dembélé giving the result an emphatic slant with added-time goals.

Bayern München 3-1 Augsburg
(Lahm 2, Green 42, Alaba 90; Ji 68)
Julian Green marked his first competitive start of the season for Bayern with a goal, a header from Thomas Müller's right-wing cross. David Alaba confirmed the Bavarians' participation in the last 16 of the German Cup.

Borussia Dortmund 1-1 Union Berlin, Dortmund win 3-0 on pens(Parensen og 44; Skrzybski 81)
Roman Weidenfeller was the hero for Dortmund in the shoot-out, saving spot kicks from Felix Kroos and Stephan Fürstner.

Cultural Leonesa 1-7 Real Madrid (Benja 84; Zuiverloon og 6, Asensio 32 53, Morata 46 55, Nacho 68, Díaz 90+2)
Madrid all but booked their place in the last 16 of the Copa del Rey with a comprehensive first-leg success over their third-tier opponents, Nacho providing the pick of the goals. They meet again on 30 November when the rest of the first legs will be played, Madrid's tie moved due to the FIFA Club Word Cup clashing with the dates for the returns.

Jammerbugt 1-6 København  (Rosengren 69; Keita 5, Falk 29, Roerslev 47, Kristoffersen 59, Røjkjær 79 82)
Teenagers Mads Roerslev and Nicklas Røjkjær, a substitute, struck on their FCK debuts as the holders eased into the last 16 of the Danish Cup.

Club Brugge 4-0 Westerlo(Cools 13 88, Vormer 45+1, Pina 78)
The hosts are up to third in the Eerste Klasse after this, their biggest win of the campaign. Brugge's task was made easier by the dismissals of Silvere Ganvoula M'boussy (34) and Khaleem Hyland (70).

Juventus 4-1 Sampdoria (Mandžukić 4, Chiellini 9 87, Pjanić 65; Schick 57)
Mario Mandžukić's first club goal of the campaign set the Bianconeri en route to victory. Giorgio Chiellini swiftly doubled the lead with the first of his two headers on the night.

Group A
Arsenal 2-0 Reading(Oxlade-Chamberlain 33 78)
Arsenal moved through to the English League Cup quarter-finals for the first time since 2012/13 as they eliminated Jaap Stam's Reading. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain opened the scoring with a confident finish after the second-tier visitors lost the ball in defence and the second was a deflected shot from the edge of the area. Arsenal are now 13 matches unbeaten.

Montana 0-4 Ludogorets Razgrad(Keșerü 9 78, Natanael 32, Misidjan 90)
Ludogorets produced their second 4-0 'away' win of this Bulgarian Cup campaign (the game was actually played in Razgrad) to cruise past last season's beaten finalists and ensure no repeat of their round of 16 exit of last year. The quarter-finals take place in early April.

Group C
Borussia Mönchengladbach 2-0 Stuttgart(Johnson 31, Stindly 84)
Gladbach booked their place in the German Cup's last 16 with their first home victory in a month. Lars Stindl followed up his UEFA Champions League goal at Celtic last week with a fine finish tonight against 2. Bundesliga opposition.

Barcelona 0-1 Espanyol (Caicedo 10)
Barcelona took the opportunity to give their squad players a run-out in Tarragona as they lost to their neighbours in the Catalonia Super Cup. This was the second time the trophy had been played for, Barcelona edging Espanyol on penalties in 2014 after the competition branched out from the Catalonia Cup now involving the rest of the regions' teams.

Group D
Sparta Rotterdam 3-1 PSV Eindhoven
(Vriends 15, El Azzouzi 53, Brogno 70; Ramselaar 51)
PSV's Dutch Cup hopes were ended in the round of 32 by Sparta, whom they had beaten 1-0 at home in the Eredivisie on Sunday. Bart Ramselaar was also the PSV scorer at the weekend.

Group E
Liverpool 2-1 Tottenham Hotspur(Sturridge 9 64; Janssen 76pen)
Tottenham exited the League Cup despite Vincent Janssen pulling one back from the spot after Erik Lamela was fouled. There was a first Tottenham start for Georges-Kevin N'Koudou and a debut for 19-year-old Shayon Harrison, who came close to equalising after being introduced from the bench. Spurs' unbeaten start to the domestic season is over.

Sportfreunde Lotte 2-2 Bayer Leverkusen, aet 4-3pens(Hilbert 47 og, Freiburger 105; Volland 25 95)
Leverkusen crashed out of the German Cup against opponents they scalped 3-0 away in last term's competition and who were promoted to the third tier for the first time last summer. Twice Kevin Volland put Levekersen in front only for the hosts to equalise, Lotte even reduced to ten men on 78 minutes. Volland was unable to convert in the shoot-out, which went to sudden death before Julian Baumgartlinger's kick was saved and ex-Borussia Dortmund trainee and Wolfsburg reserve Luka Tankulić slotted the winner for a Lotte team who previously knocked out Werder Bremen.

Group H
Bjelovar 1-2 Dinamo Zagreb(Jaković 81; Šitum 13, Ćorić 71)
Dinamo advanced to late November's Croatian Cup quarter-finals as they saw off their third-tier rivals. The visitors' two goals were of high quality but Bjelovar hit the woodwork twice and, having cut the gap, forced Dinamo goalkeeper Adrian Šemper into a late save.
