We suffered, like we knew we'd have to. In the end we've made it and we're really happy. The players deserve this. The fans were with the players for the whole game and that always helps. Cristiano played like he always does, but everyone worked hard and that's why we're in the final. I'm delighted for what has happened. The final will be perfectly even, but now we're going to enjoy this. It's an important day.
I'm very happy but not just for myself. I'm happy for the players because they did a great job. You always suffer in a semi but reaching the final is the most important thing for us. We must enjoy this moment with the fans but we haven't done anything yet. We know we will have a complicated match on 28 May; now we have to rest and think of our game on Sunday.
I'm very happy to have the opportunity to manage these players. Everybody is important. We must keep on working together and thinking that we can do important things. That's what we did tonight. I'm the coach and I do something good for sure but this is about the team. The players are the most important because they allow me to enjoy football. I'm happy watching what they do every day. You must live every day with intensity and thinking that it could be your last.
Manuel Pellegrini, Manchester City manager
We feel a very bitter taste. We didn't deserve to lose. They had a lot of fortune with their goal. Neither of the teams created much. We weren't clear enough in our ideas and they didn't allow us to create chances. The fair result would have been a draw. Madrid were fortunate.
I'm not happy because we couldn't create chances. We didn't deserve to lose because both teams were very similar. We were missing David [Silva] and [Samir] Nasri and Yaya [Touré] was coming back from an injury. Neither team deserved to win; there was a good work from both teams and little football. Both matches were very even. Defences won over forwards.
Of course if you don't play a final you have missed a chance. We played against a strong team but they weren't better than us. We needed a little luck but we didn't get it. We tried but we couldn't do it. I don't think Real Madrid proved they're superior to City.
It was a special season because we got to the semi-finals and that was important for our team. We will try to qualify for the next UEFA Champions League. This team must always try to play the final. There are no favourites in a final. Atlético are very strong and Real Madrid have many players that can make the difference.
