The team that scores the most goals will win any game, but it does not necessarily follow that the highest-scoring sides win tournaments.
This season's semi-finals feature the 2015/16 competition's most prolific attacks (Bayern at 2.55 goals per game and Real Madrid at 2.36) as well as its tightest defences (Madrid and Atlético having conceded 0.45 goals per match). However, Manchester City remain in the mix despite scoring just 1.64 goals per match and conceding an average rate of one a game.
