Figo on Zidane at Madrid, Paris 2-1 Chelsea

"He has done fantastically in the last few games and it is a new adventure for him," said Luís Figo of old team-mate Zinédine Zidane ahead of the Frenchman's Euripean coaching debut.

Few people would be in a better position to judge how Zinédine Zidane will shape up as Real Madrid coach in the UEFA Champions League than Luís Figo.

The two were Madrid colleagues for four seasons, teaming up for the first time in 2001/02 when the club won their ninth European title. Tonight Zidane leads Real in the UEFA Champions League for the first time at Roma in the round of 16 and Figo assessed the situation as he spoke to UEFA.com's Matchday Live radio show as part of Heineken’s #championthematch event in South Africa, also taking time to analyse Paris Saint-Germain’s 2-1 defeat of Chelsea.

Figo on Zidane …

Well I hope he does well. I wish all the luck to him. He has done fantastically in the last few games and it is a new adventure for him. It is a tough game in Rome. Roma have changed their coach and I think in their last game they played very well. Playing away is always tough, as is playing in Italy. So, I think it's going to be a good game to watch and I hope that Madrid get a positive result.

On Paris 2-1 Chelsea …

It was a very good game to watch. It was Intense, with two top teams and I think it was a fair result in the end. I think Paris did more to win the game being the home team and maybe Chelsea were a bit disappointing offensively in the second half. I think qualification is open for both teams.

On who will go through …

It is difficult to answer that question! Qualification is open for both teams. Paris Saint-Germain have the advantage right now but the atmosphere at Stamford Bridge will be difficult so we have to wait and see. It’s good that qualification is still open.
